The only Democratic Presidential candidate with a spine, Dennis Kucinich, is also the leader of the movement to impeach Dick Cheney. I’ve already sent you to a link to sign the petition, but now I’ve got an even more enticing link for you.
Dennis Kucinich has plans to read into the official Congressional Record—which will remain part of the National Archives as long as Dick Cheney isn’t around to abolish it—five single-spaced pages of the numbers of every American citizen who has signed a petition in support of impeaching Dick Cheney.
Want to show support for democracy? Want to become immortalized in the Congressional Record as someone who knew the right thing to do before it became massively acceptable? (Like criticizing the war. Remember when anyone who dared to criticize the war was attacked as un-American and unpatriotic and supporting terrorists? Boy, I sure do. Now all the kids today are doing it.) Follow this link and maybe one day Nancy Pelosi and her ilk will see the inherent danger and potential for violent repercussions once Americans come to fully realize that impeachment is clearly not a legitimate option for removing a dangerous or incompetent President or Vice-President when those in charge of the process are more fearful of the potential political liabilities of removing a President than they are of the moral liabilities of doing nothing.

Pres. Bush lied about the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in order to win support for the plans he was already making before he was appointed President to invade the country. That is a proven fact regardless of what his few remaining supporters might try to tell you. The evidence has been documented that CIA agents were under orders that came directly from the White House to either ignore or tailor evidence that no weapons existed and that Iraq had no links to Osama Bin Laden. In addition, Pres. Bush knowingly referenced a forged document during his State of the Union address in the knowledge that he would never have a larger audience to put forth his lies about Iraq. Pres. Bush was handed a budget surplus by Pres. Clinton. Long before the 9/11 attacks completely upended budgetary priorities, Bush had already made economic decisions that made a budget deficit before the 2004 elections a foregone conclusion. He took excess money and spent it like a drunken sailor all the while campaigning about good old-fashioned conservative fiscal responsibility. Pres. Bush instituted a series of illegal spying and eavesdropping programs on law-abiding citizens of the United States after getting his Patriot Act passed, which effectively did away with many of the protections of civil liberties Americans have enjoyed for decades. It wasn't enough to give himself legal powers never before enjoyed by a President, he also had to resort to criminal acts perpetrated upon American citizens who had never even been accused of a crime. Pres. Bush became the first American President in history to forward a doctrine of foreign policy which explicitly stated that it would use pre-emptive force. In other words, Pres. Bush let it be known that under his leadership, so-called, America would for the first time in its history be willing to start a war with another country rather than engaging in a war only after being attacked first. During the first three years of the Presidency of George W. Bush, almost three million Americans lost their jobs, becoming the first President to oversee a net loss of jobs since the Great Depression. Despite a willingness to impinge on the authority of Congress and even other sovereign nations, Pres. Bush says the reason he didn't act quicker to help the suffering of those left homeless by Hurricane Katrina is that the Governor of Louisiana didn't ask for his help. (One need not think very hard to wonder why she didn't want his help.)There are some out there who think that these and a multitude of other failures of Pres. Bush is reason enough for him to be impeached. Unfortunately, the GOP Congress made it clear their first allegiance was to their party and not the people. The Democrat Congress is so scared of doing anything to lose what should by all rights be a Presidential election in 2008 they couldn't possibly blow that they won't even allow the word impeach to be spoken on the floors of Congress. Without impeachment there is no other possible way to remove a President from office in the United States. There are some who feel like that, you know, the conditions are such that Americans have no other choice but to protect America from any further damage that can be done under the "leadership" of George W. Bush by taking things into their own hands. "My answer is bring them on."
I have previously written an article that guides writers and students to Shvoong.com. Shvoong is a site where you can make a little bit of spending money by writing abstracts and summaries of pretty much anything-from poems to entire web sites. It is one of the premier sites on the internet for dissemination of information. Naturally there are any number of fearful cowards in this world that are more afraid of information being shared than of planes shooting guided missiles. Shvoong has been attacked by the repressive Chinese government that has become notorious for being the leader of placing obstacles in the way of internet access. Chinese writers are, in fact, among the top contributors to Shvoong. Living in a country that seems to exist solely for the purpose of keeping its citizens uninformed will do that, I guess. It has yet to be determined exactly why the Chinese government has moved to block user access to Shvoong. One reason may very well be that Shvoong recently signed a contract with Tsinghua University in Beijing to receive over one million academic abstracts on such topics as medicine and technology. Yes, the idea that some of its billions of citizens might gain some information about such subjects by visiting Shvoong does ring true. Except that, as Tal Perry, Shvoong's Head of Business Development told me, 90% of the Chinese content available on Shvoong is material of exceptional quality and service that has absolutely no political agenda to speak of. So basically, there seems to be little to justify the Chinese government having taken this action. Thus far, Shvoong has been unable to get in touch with the authorities within the Chinese government and so have been given no explanation for their action. I have been contacted by Shvoong to get this news out and I am passing along the baton to all who are interested in upholding the concept that freedom of speech isn't something that any government can take away. If you have a blog, write about this. If you write for another site, do an article about this. Contact your Congressman. Any repression of the freedom to write and read what you want in any country represents a dangerous precedent. The Chinese government cracking down on web site may seem entirely unimportant to you, but if you are a writer you've got to understand that the loss of potentially millions of readers for those contributing to Shvoong today could mean the loss of potentially millions of readers for this web site tomorrow.
